Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation | SHADE 410C Review on Oily Skin

Recently, there have been lots of new exciting makeup launches. Two in particular that caught my eye was the launch of the eyeshadow palette by Jackie Aina x Anastasia Beverly Hills and ABH’s new Luminous Foundation. When I saw the products were available I quickly placed my order for both. I also purchased the new liquid liner but I was more excited about the foundation. I love a nice complexion product. Out of all makeup products complexion products are what I purchase the most. As with all foundations, I was curious to see how this Luminous Foundation would hold up in the island weather on my oily skin. 

Let’s discuss my first impressions.

Shades

I ordered shade 410C, typically I’m not cool-toned in anything but this one was listed as a golden undertone in the description. My skin is all the way warm but from the models on the site as well as the swatches I saw online, it looked like the cooler shades ran closer to the warmer side. The tan shades seem to have fewer undertones listed in the warm range.

I feel the shade 410C is a tad bit off for my skin. However, if I stay out of the sun for a few weeks it would be my perfect match. I tan pretty quickly so it is hard to match my skin perfectly with just foundation alone. I normally have to mix or add a bronzer to get a nice match when I’m out in the sun for extended periods of time.

Finish and application

When I applied this foundation I found it easy to blend out with both a brush and beauty sponge. The consistency of the foundation is pretty liquidy and thin. I do find it to be quite pigmented though. It is easy to build up to solid medium coverage.

For a full face I used about 2 pumps. One pump is perfect for a nice even canvas that isn’t too heavy.

Once the foundation sets it looks about a half shade deeper than what it looks like freshly wet out of the bottle.
It dries down to a natural matte finish on my skin but I did notice my oils peeking throughout the day. The foundation lasted pretty well on the skin but it is definitely not the best foundation for Guam heat. It seems to break down on the skin pretty fast. A beauty sponge does help to remove extra oil and to refresh the makeup but there’s not much longevity in the heat.

Packaging 

The packaging is very nice. The bottle has a good weight to it and it has a clean minimal look. The black letters against the clear background of the bottle give it a fun touch. The cap slides on so luxuriously and it comes with a pump. We all can appreciate a bottle with a pump.

Final thoughts

Overall I think this is a pretty solid foundation but it is not one that I would reach for living here in Guam. I think this foundation is perfect for fall and winter months when temperatures are a bit cooler. I agree with most of the claims. The foundation was not water-resistant in my experience. I wore it on a normal day out running errands and it broke up on my skin fairly easy.

The foundation feels really nice on the skin. When first applied it can look a bit cakey but that feeling quickly fades as it sets and warms up to your skin.
 
I plan on trying this foundation out with different primers and setting sprays to see if it wears better. I’ll be sure to update this article if I have any additional info.
