Triple Cleanse Method to Effectively Remove Makeup

Triple Cleanse Method

Effectively removing makeup with the Triple Cleanse Method has been a focus lately. As temperatures rise (hey summer!) I’ve been enjoying less makeup or none at all. I know..who am I?! My skin is still recovering from some recent breakouts. Seems like it has been taking forever…but I’m on the right track.

Since the Triple Cleanse Method has worked so well I wanted to discuss it with you. I’m not sure who created this method but I’ve seen many versions of it around on socials.

Let me take you through the current products I use and the steps.

Oil cleanser

First, on dry skin start by taking an oil cleanser and emulsifying the makeup on the face. I use the cleanser gently on my eyes as well. If I’m wearing liquid lipstick I cleanse my lips first then wipe it off. I do this first because liquid lipsticks are so pigmented and at times a thicker consistency. I don’t want that all over my face.

For this method, I use jojoba oil or Missha Super Off Cleansing Oil. Jojoba oil can be found in most stores or online. I purchased Super Off here in Guam but it can also be purchased online.

After all the makeup is emulsified with the oil I wet my hands and rub my face, then rinse it all off.

Makeup wipe or micellar water

The next step in the routine I use a makeup wipe or micellar water with a cotton round. Both options work well for me. It just depends on what I have on hand. Although, makeup wipes are more convenient.

I wipe all around my face paying more attention to my eyes as eyeliner and mascara tend to linger. I like the generic Walmart wipes in the blue package or the Neutrogena brand ones. For micellar water, I use Garnier’s SkinActive (the pink version). Check out other ways I use the micellar water here.

Face wash-Last triple cleanse step

The last step in removing my makeup is a gentle face wash. This gets anything left behind which is normally not much at this point. I’ve been really loving CeraVe Foaming Face Cleanser (for normal to oily skin). This can also be found at most stores or online.

After this my face is fully cleansed I move on to the rest of my skincare routine.

Do you take your makeup off before bed? Have you tried the triple cleanse method?

Thanks for hanging out today!
