Red Velvet and Body Scrub…a perfect combination. I love Red Velvet cupcakes! They are one of my favorite desserts. I’m not a big cake person but something about Red Velvet cupcakes just calls to me. With that in mind I was thinking how I can transform my favorite dessert into a treat for my skin. Red Velvet Body Scrub is my transformation.

Let’s begin

Materials

Mason Jar
2 Spoons
2 Mixing Bowls
Coconut Oil (about 4 tablespoons or more)
Brown Sugar (about a cup)
White Granulated Sugar (about 1/2 cup)
Beet Powder (about 8 capsules or more) (for loose beet powder about 2 tsp or more)
Butter Extract (a dash)
Cocoa Powder (a dash)
Instant Espresso/ Coffee Packet
Baking Soda (a dash)

*If you are sensitive to these materials or think you may be please do a patch test first.

 

Steps

1. Take about 4 tablespoons of coconut oil and place it in the first mixing bowl. Mix well. It is ok if there are a few lumps. Take half of the mixed coconut oil and put it in the second bowl.

*If you want a more emollient scrub add more coconut oil.

2. Take about a cup of brown sugar and place it in the first mixing bowl. Add: A dash of cocoa powder, espresso, baking soda, and beet powder (4 capsules/1 tsp). Mix Well.

*Note: Beet powder can stain I used 4 capsules (1 tsp) with no stain issues.

3. Take about 1/2 cup of white sugar and place it in the second mixing bowl. Add: beet powder (4 capsules/ 1 tsp), a dash of baking soda and butter extract. Mix Well.

*Note: Beet powder can stain I used 4 capsules (1 tsp) with no stain issues.

4. Now place each mixing bowl in the microwave for a few seconds.

5. Take a second to smell each mixture. Mmmmm! Smells so good right?! I know you have been taking a few sniffs along the way…I see you! Lol!

Layer the body scrub goodness

6. Now that both bowls are mixed well and microwaved you can now assemble your Red Velvet Body Scrub.

7. In the jar add a layer of the brown sugar mix then add a layer of the white sugar mix on top of that. Continue layering each mix until you reach the top of the jar.

Decorate your Jar (if you like) and Enjoy!

 

How to use this scrub

Hand scrub: Wet hands with warm water, place a spoonful into hands and rub together. Rinse and pat dry your hands. Apply your favorite lotion or body butter on after.

*Notice the beautiful Red Velvet color the water turns as you rinse your hands.

Foot scrub: This can get messy, best to use in the shower. Wet hands and feet with warm water, place about a spoonful into hands and rub on feet. Rinse hands and feet and pat dry. Apply your favorite lotion or body butter.

Lip scrub: Grab a small container and place coconut oil and your Red Velvet Body Scrub into it (1:1 ratio). Then mix well. When finished take a small amount and rub it on your lips. Wipe clean and apply your favorite lip balm or gloss.

In shower body scrub: Apply to damp skin and rub over body, being careful to avoid any sensitive areas. Rinse well and pat skin dry. Apply your favorite lotion or body butter on after.
